Moniter difficulty

my moniter has been working fine for a year now. all of a sudden, when i try to startup my computer now, the moniter displays "no signal input, or not connected", when the computer seems to be starting up like normal. so i reboot, and after a few times of rebooting, the screen eventually starts working. but then when i start it up the next time, the same happens, making it extremely frustrating. i have no idea what the cause could be!

1 Check the vga cable. Remove it from the video card at the back of the computer and push it back in securely
2 Remove and reseat the video card. Be sure to blow out any dust and clean the gold contacts with a rubber pencil erase
3 Connect a different monitor to the video card. If it works, the problem is in either the vga cable connected to your monitor or your monitor
