I am getting the distinct impression that everyone who went for the free
upgrade if they bought a new computer offer, has been conned.

From following the threads in just this news group i have noticed that
NOONE says they have received the upgrade yet despite it being over 2 months
since this latest offering from microsoft has been released.

Now if that aint a con, what is?

COME ON.. GET THOSE DISKS OUT AND MAKE IT P & P FREE FOR MAKING US WAIT
FOREVER FOR SOMETHING THAT STILL AIN'T COMMING.

Trust me they are doing them a favor!!!

Remain to xp until there is a vista SP1 so we can see if it fixes anything,
and if not then remain on xp until Vista SP2....
and if they dont fix vista then, switch to MacOSX

Mine arrived about a week ago (UK) - so they do exist.

My pc was a self-build one though (xp oem disc purchased seperately) if
that makes any difference.

It arrived as a bog-standard oem Vista Premium disc (same packaging and
no mention that it was to be used only for the registered upgrade).

If you're looking for a timescale.....

1) Proof of purchase sent in early December.
2) Website showing as 'shipped' on 3rd February.
3) Disc arrived 24th February.
4) Got an email from moduslink yesterday saying they'll ship it in the
next few days :)

They're much slower in the US. I had my COA validated on the 22 of
November. When I check the status, they haven't charged for shipping yet
much less indicated a shipping date.

Another timescale, OEM self built PC (UK) :

1) Proof of purchase and Redemption Form sent 7 December.
2) Website showing as 'COA Validated'
3) Disc not arrived!
4) Nothing received from Modus, do not reply to e-mails.

If they have not received/lost the Redemption Form, I wonder how you go
about getting a replacement!

I sent my forms around the same time and was concerned that nothing was
happening (no replies to emails either). So I sent another email with a
scan of my proof of purchase.
Again I got no reply but just a day or two later the 'COA validated'
changed to 'COA/POP validated' and then to "Shipped" soon afterwards.
Maybe it was just a coincidence, but it may be worth a try?

I ordered at the end of November, posted all the paperwork, got to POP/COA
validated. In mid February it changed to "Order Received"

Last Friday I phoned Modus at lunchtime, and was told my order was OK and
that I should be patient!! That evening I got an e-mail from them saying my
order was cancelled. No explanation was given, just an apology and suggestion
I start again.

I now know of at least 3 people this has happened to.

Does anyone know an address I can use to complain to Microsoft about
Moduslink?

They have lost my proof of purchase 4 times now, and I have proof of
receipt yet they refuse to admit they have it?

to pester microsoft use this link...
http://support.microsoft.com/common...PATH=dm;en-us;select&target=assistance&c1=509

to get hold of modus use this link:

(e-mail address removed)

personally i have asked if any lawyer is interested in a class action suit
against microsoft and moduslink for various misleading adverts.. such as...
you will get it in 4 to 6 weeks after launch..

clearly this has not happened... breach of advertising and other laws...
after all, if a car company can get sued for claiming a car can drive
itself.. what hope does microsoft have?

will post more as i get to it...

keep smiling..

How do you figure? The 6 weeks estimate isn't up until March 13.

there is no way that they can ship that many units in the time remaining.
esp when they can not even process the ones they have already accepted as
validated.. still recona good case is in the offering

About a half hour ago, I received an email stating that it has shipped
and to expect it within three weeks. The Moduslink web site shows it
shipped today.

I got an email 3 days ago two lines saying it was being shipped and to
contact them if it did not arrive in 6 weeks. (moduslink) Since I put my
order in last year I was suprised. Does anyone know the website I can go to,
to check my order as I got married and my name has changed and the Postal
Service may not deliver it.
Thanks!
