Hi, I am trying to get into this page to change my password on my modem
http://10.0.0.138/index.htm.
It won't take my password and I get the message: 'HTTP/1.0 401 Authorization
Required,' whatever that means!
I have adsl with big pond. Can someone tell me what to do so I don't have
to hang on to the phone to help desk for hours? Thanks

Not having any useful details about your modem or what you've done with it
in the past, all anyone can give you is broad generalities.

What the 401 message means is, you need the password.

1.Did you change the password from the default? If not, look in the manual
or the manufacturer's website for what the password is.

2. Many such devices have a reset button that will return the device to it's
"as delivered" state, to include default password. Then see #1 above.

Go to their support page at,
http://bigpond.custhelp.com/cgi-bin...php?p_faqid=5757&display=content&p_platform=N
Pick out which modem you have and read the directions.

This is a "DSL" type modem/router. Turn your PC off and then turn the
modem/router off. Then, power up the router/modem and then turn you PC on.
This should "reset" the "DSL" system and let you access it system with your
password.

BTW: We can not look at the web page is 10.0.0.138 is in a private IP address
range. Private IP addresses are not viewable over the Internet.
