Modem Problem after XP Upgrade

I have upgraded from ME to XP Home. I can no longer call
into my ISP. I am told the modem is working correctly and
is operating through COM1. Any ideas?

ISP is Freeserve.

Are you able to dial anywhere and connect with your
modem? Do you get any error messages when you attempt to
dial your ISP? What modem is it and did you check for
updated XP drivers for the modem?
