modem installation

i am trying to install a modem (XDA) on XP home and i
cant seem to be able to allocate a com port when asked.
No com ports are offered and therefore i cannot progress
by using the next button...please help
 
Hello

Go into your system BIOS and make sure that your com port
are enabled and then try installing the moend again provided
that nothign is using the com port
