Modem error 797

I hope that someone can help me. I try to connect through dial-up and I get failed attempts. Whe modem is queried, it say "error 797, the port that the modem is using is currently being used by another application. Close application and try again" however, there are no other applications running as far as I can tell. Can anyone tell me how to fix this or what it is that I need to shut down in task mgr
Any help would be greatly appreciated
