modem driver

hi,
i just reformated my hard drive and the modem driver
doesnt want to install from the windows xp disk. i dont
remember the name of the modem either so i cant just go
to the website and download it the driver. is there any
way that i can get some help on this? does microsoft have
a program to download that will automatically install the
driver? please help!

No, but you can download a program, such as Aida32 (free) that will tell you
what modem you have.

Alternatively, you can get the FCC number off the modem and look it up on
the Internet (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/).
