Modem Crashes after dial up

K

Kevin Truss

I am running Windows XP home edition and recently
If I try to connect to the internet the modem
attempts to dial (the dial up dialogue box appears)
the it crashes the desktop and the computer restarts
windows.

It occured at the same time I tried to move my Audigy
soundcard to a PCI slot that was closer to the modem
to try to get the gameport to work, it didn;t so I moved
the soundcard back to its original slot at the bottom of
the tower with one empty slot between the soundcard and
the modem. I have checked the device manager and it says
that the modem is functioning correctly.

I have had trouble with my Creative soundcard drivers
recently as I had the W32 Swen worm on my PC which
affected them and I had to use the SWen remove tool from
Symantec.

Hi,

First, go to symantec.com to have an on-line security
check to ensure your PC is virus free.
Secondly, go to add or remove rpogram to completly remove
the audigy sound drivers and all the audigy utilities.
Go to device manager and uninstall the modem then reboot.
Windows should search and reinstall the drivers for your
modem. Use your audigy CD to re-install the drivers and
utilities.

Hope it helps.
