Modem connects at one location and not another

Help! I have a laptop computer loaded with XP, not very old. The modem
will connect without a problem at the "common" location in our RV park.
However, on the phone hookup I have at my motor home, the modem will
not connect. I have had two friends come over with their laptops and
hooked them up, and their modem connects. My modem diagnostics say
everything is okay. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong with
this modem?

Is there a difference in dialing between the two locations?
Do you have to dial a number to get an outside line when you are at the
motor home, but do not dial a number from the common location?
