Modem blues

Hi,

I have a Toshiba S1 laptop running Windows XP
Professional and I get the following error when trying to
use the dial up modem (thankfully I only need dial up
when I am on call for work, still an essential though)

Opening the modem device failed with error 000005aa

There are no conflicts showing in device manager,
I downloaded and re-installed the modem driver from the
Toshiba site and uninstalled everything I could (except
my HP printer drivers for a Photosmart 7350 printer) that
I thought may be having an impact.

The first time I tried to use the modem, I got an error
633, the port is in use type of message.. now when I
attempt to query the modem, it tells me the com port it
is attached to could not be opened, check device manager
for conflicts... however as I said, I do not see any and
windows is not reporting any conflicts..

Please help..

Shannon
