Mobile 6 classic emulator - cant hard reset

Hi,

I've been using the Mobile 6 emulator for a while now and have been unable
to Hard Reset it. When I Hard Reset it, its the equivalent of doing a Soft
Reset. Anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know of a way i can force a
Hard Reset on this emulator? I'm using VS2005.

Thanks,
Dav

Use the "Device Emulator Manager".

I don't remember how it is in VS2005, but in VS2008 you find it in the
Tools menu.

If not you probably find it in
"C:\Programfiler\Microsoft Device Emulator\1.0\dvcemumanager.exe"

You also have to use the "Device Emulator Manager" to give your emulator
network access and visible for Active Sync etc by performing a "Cradle"
on it.

Thanks for your reply. Yeh I've tried all the tricks under the sun but the
emulator never hard resets. I'll keep hunting...

I actually ran into this same issue today but unfortunately this solution
didn't work for me. I'm running VS2005 and the Microsoft Device Emulator V2
(8.0.60801.00) with the Windows Mobile 6 Standard emulator.

I tried the following:

1) From Device Emulator Manager -> Clear Save Save State, then Reset

2) From the emulator I tried each of these different combos:
a) Reset -> Hard
b) Clear Saved State, Reset -> Hard
c) Clear Saved State, Reset -> Soft
d) Clear Saved State -> Save State and Exit

I've probably tried a few more combinations as well but no luck. Are there
any files I can just delete or registry settings to change to get back to the
default image? I tried searching my entire hard drive for files that may
have changed after I saved the state but no luck so I'm guessing these are
perhaps in the registry but I haven't dumped it and looked for the changes
between saves yet to try and find all of the info.

Any help would be much appreciated. Previously a hard reset from within the
emulator worked for me, I'm not sure when it stopped working as I haven't
tried in a month or so.

Thanks,

Nick

Not sure why you're seeing the behavior you are (or exactly what the
original problem was--I'm late to this thread), but the emulator saved state
files are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application
Data\Microsoft\Device Emulator. Each emulator type has a different virtual
machine ID (GUID) used as the file name--hopefully you can use the file
date/time stamps to figure out which is which.

Thanks, that worked like a charm. Not sure why I had missed those files.
Since I just wanted to reset all of my emulators I just wiped all of the
files out and they are back to there original state. Thanks for the help!
