MMC snap-ins for remote machines send the wrong username

Amy

I've got an office full of XP machines, and I'm trying to
set up one to manage the others remotely via MMC snap-ins.

All the machines have the same Administrator password.
The network is setup as a workgroup only, not as a domain.

I added the Computer Management snap-in for each machine,
and all but 3 machines fail with "Access denied" messages.
Auditing reveals those that are failing think I am
connecting as Guest, and those 3 that work correctly show
I'm connecting as Administrator.

Each machine should be identical, with the same services
running. I double checked one successful machine and one
failing machine and verified the same services are running
and the Administrator is in the Administrators group. I am
able to login via Remote Desktop and run the snap-in
locally as Administrator.

What am I missing? Any help is appreciated.

Hi

As the computers are in a workgroup and not a domain, it could be a ForceGuest
(registry value) issue:
