SP3 and mmc snap-in

So what's the fix for the mmc snap-in for diskeeper version 8.0459 after
installing SP3?

One google search result said to reinstall.
Another was to invoke mmc via cmd, and open file to invoke application name
for snap-in.

Nothing in diskeeper.com support FAQs. App still defrags, just can't open
it a 2nd time in same windows session. IE opens instead?????????

Have you sent a message to the tech folks at Diskeeper to see if there
is a fix? I don't see anything higher than the version you cite.

Seems SP3 installs a new version of the mmc snap-in. Surprise, surprise.
Thought I would check here after checking for the obvious at the diskeeper
website. And, many versions of diskeeper have since been available version
8. Reason I know is all the advertising email diskeeper guys keep sending
me for the past few years since installing that version. Mmc isn't visible
in task manager, was before installing SP3.

Yes, the MMC in SP3 was updated to the 3.0 version release. I'm almost
curious to see what would happen if you take it up with Microsoft.
Give it a shot at this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?ln=en-us&prid=11273&gprid=522131

Explain what's going on, tell them it worked pre-SP3. Maybe they'll
issue a patch for it that you can apply. It's worth a shot.

Did some more digging at the diskeeper site. Diskeeper, starting with
version 9 uses a different mmc communication. I did submit a support issue
form at the diskeeper website, and, noted the problem immediately occurred
after installing SP3. Am betting they're gonna try to sell me version 10
instead of giving us stalwart version 8 users a fix. I never updated
diskeeper since 2003 as it worked fine all these years. For giggles, I
uninstalled diskeeper, rebooted, installed diskeeper from the original
retail CD. Same problem.

BTW Installed SP3 from the CD that MS provides for a modest sum.
Installation was totally uneventful.

If they certainly can't provide a fix, a deeply discounted upgrade
would be a an alternative in my opinion.

Hello,

This problem occurs since there were changes to MMC in XP SP3.
Please note the defragment function would continue to run in the
background regardless of this error message.
The MMC Error will give you the three options below to chose from:

THREE OPTION TO CHOSE FROM
1 Report this error to Microsoft and then shut down,
2 Continue and ignore with this snap in for rest of session,
3 Continue running and always ignore error with this snap in,
regardless of user or session.

Recommended workaround is to select the third option to "Continue
running and always ignore error with this snap in, regardless of user
or session".

This would not affect the functionality of the MMC or Diskeeper.
