MMC 8.7 Teletext

Has anyone managed to get this working successfully?

I only manage to get the first six lines of text on most pages.
I had no problems using the very basic teletext add-on in MMC 8.1 but
I obviously wouldn't want to go back to 8.1 just for the sake of
getting teletext.

I have always felt that ATI merely added teletext to their AllinWonder
software as an afterthought as, compared to the very comprehensive
functions available with Hauppauge cards, the facilities are very
primitive.

It's very likely that ATi are not bothered overmuch about Teletext, Mike:
that's for the European market, which ATi have demonstrated is no longer of
any great interest to them.

They have taken strides to provide additional European (Read PAL/SECAM only)
functionality such as the Teletext based Closed caption funtionality but I
agree that the latest MMC Teletext desperately needs sorting out. I too get
the problem of only the top few lines being displayed here in the UK. It's
also annoying that ATI has got rid of the Launchbar Teletext Icon (I Believe
the US/Canada ie NTSC GuidePlus still has its own launchbar icon).

I suggest Mike emails ATI about the Teletext problem and if enough people do
so, they might listen and fix it. My email went in a few months ago (MMC
8.5) but they don't seem to be very fast at sorting it. I'm therefore back
using MMC 8.1 (albeit with the uncommanded zooming issue). I agree with Mike
that the Hauppauge Teletext App is superior to that in MMC but then so is
the GDI Black Gold Teletext App - pity that wont (yet?) work with AIW
chipsets.

How odd. I very much welcomed the MMC 8.7 merely because the
captions-buttons is replaced (on European versions o/t cards) to a button
that activates teletext instaed of 'captions'.

This feature works very well on my card Hercules made OEM ATI card AIW
9800SE (with 8 pipes enabled)

Needles to say I use Catalyst 3.7 in combination with MMC 8.7 and DX9.0a (to
avoid having the black picture error)

For information this is the exact driver version that I use:

wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-93-030812a1-010735c-efg.exe

Works great.

Perhaps someone might be tempted to contact ASUS. Because their PVCR also
works with ATI gfx-based cards (since they started building ATI-chipped
cards). Unfortunatly their TV app doesn't do teletext as of yet.

Perhaps its country specific - i.e. the Teletext Broadcast is not fully
displayed in the UK but is in the country you live in Manu T (Belgium?). The
closed captions button does display teletext sourced words when clicked here
in the UK, its the Teletext Browser that plays up. This is the thing that
you get if you right click the Closed Captions button and then select
Teletext. You'll get a small (very small) silver framed window with a small
remote control looking button panel separate.

Yes I thought that the software activates either the Teletext or the closed
captions depending of the country it detects as being used. In my case it's
indeed belgium (thus PAL B/G & teletext)

I noticed that in the previous MMC when I activated closed captions then I
sometimes had subtitles. This was I bleieve on BBC and usually it was a
black bar over the tv-image. If I selected the captios to have their own
window then things were readable. Though very slow...

Now a proper teletext over TV and then we might have full working
teletext-subtitling :)

Anyway were' getting there.
