MM keeps freezing up

I've been working on a project for a fundraiser and am using various footage
that I uploaded off our camcorder. It seems everytime I'm about halfway
through WMM freezes up on me and the only way I can get out of it is to
softboot the computer. Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this? Thanks.

I forgot to mention, I have the 2008 version of XP home.

i've never found a computer system in which Movie maker doesn't lock up.
That's why I tell everyone to go into the settings and have movie maker
automatically save every couple of minutes to avoid losing a great amount of
work.
