Missing WMI files

Russ

I just cleaned an incredible virus mess for a friends XP
Home PC. Things are better now, but when I run System
Information, I get an error stating that WMI has been
moved or is missing. How do I reinstall WMI? THanks

To reinstall WMI into the registry:

Go to Start/Run and type in: CMD, then Winmgmt/? for information. Then run
each of these, hitting enter after each:

winmgmt/clearadap
winmgmt/kill
winmgmt/unregserver
winmgmt/regserver
winmgmt/resyncperf

You may also need to
Open CONTROL PANEL and select Administrative Tools > Services and scroll
down to "Remote Procedure Call". Right-click on this service
and select "Start". Do the same for the "WMI Performance Adapter" service.

Hey MyName,

Don't upload binary files to a text newsgroup. I didn't want your
binary crap on my computer.
