Missing "Wireless Networks" tab

C

Chris

I upgraded my laptop to Windows XP Pro from Windows 2000
Pro, and now the "Wireless Networks" tab is missing when
I click the Properties for my wireless NIC. Anybody know
how to fix this?

By the way, I checked the "Wireless Zero Configuration"
service, and it's running and set to Automatic already.

You probably need updated drivers/firmware for your wireless client
adapter. What wireless adapter do you have?

I have the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. I've already updated my driver to the latest possible, and I have friends at work with the exact same computer and wireless adapter, and they don't have this problem. I keep thinking that it's a missing component of Windows XP.

what brand and model laptop and what version of the drivers do you
have installed?

Do you have to uninstall/update the IBM Access Connection program or
other utility?

Yes...I have that utility installed. I've tried getting it to work both ways...with Access Connections and without Access Connections. Either way, I can't get that "Wireless Networks" tab to appear. I've tried getting my wireless card to work using Access Connections, but I keep getting an error saying that something is wrong with my network adapter. Any suggestions

By the way, I was able to get my network card to get an IP address from DHCP from my wireless router. I still can't configure anything of detail (e.g. WEP keys, SSIDs, etc.), but I know that my wireless router and NIC work. I still need to get that "Wireless Networks" tab to appear so I can do that. I appreciate your help with this...let me know if you need anything else. By the way, if you'd like to collaborate more quickly, my email address is (e-mail address removed). Thanks again!

What is the exact error you receive? You stated "but I keep getting an
error saying that something is wrong with my network adapter"

I will not provide email assistance, sorry. If you'd like faster
support, you can always telephone IBM's support desk.

I've been having the exact same problem with the same adapter and laptop. access connections doesn't help and i don't have the intel utility installed. i've tried to restart wireless zero configurate, apply hotfixes, update my driver - i still have no wireless networking tab and am unable to view available networks

i don't get any sort of error, i just am unable to configure network settings because that tab isn't there
