Missing Windows Components and Critical Updates

Do I have to install critical updates for windows components that I have chosen to not install (such as outlook express)? How do I get of the message for the critical update every time I run windows update?
 
Hi

May I suggest that install all of the Critical/Security Updates that you are offered. Without some of them, your PC may be at a risk that you perhaps don't want to take.
