Missing two large groups of posts?

I don't come to any newsgroup every day. I come when I have time or when I
want to see if there is a post that answers some question or problem that
has just arisen for me or for someone I am trying to help. Thus, I expect
to have all posts intact going back a long ways. Microsoft NG is not my
horrible ISP which only gives me a about a week of any non binary newsgroup
postings (and 1 day of binaries).

So, I am really surprised to see that I have two huge gaps in the posts in
this NG. No posts showing for these dates:

Feb 8 through Feb 21
February 26 through March 9

What happened to all these posts?

I don't know, I have those posts still available.
Check your settings.. What do you have selected for your 'view' settings?

They are definitely on the server, because I just logged in for the first
time in weeks and downloaded messages going back to March 2. I suspect if I
kept hitting the Headers button, they'd go back a lot further.

What's your reader? Are you using OE? Have you tried just hitting the
Headers button a few more times? If you're not using OE, use the equivalent
command to download additional headers.

If you are frequently away for long stretches of time and want to always
download everything you've missed, try increasing the number of headers
downloaded automatically. In OE that's under Tools | Options | Read, Get XX
messages at a time.

Do not tick the referenced box in OE and you will get them all.
