Just this morning I put together a brand new pc. I have installed WinXPPro,
and all the drivers for the mobo, gpu, and sound card. My trouble now is, I
have the speakers plugged into Line-In#1 of my mobo, and there is also one on
the sound card in the back. First things first, I'm not sure which I should
use. Secondly, I have tried both ports and neither solve my problem. The
mobo came with a program that would calibrate your speakers for you. When I
run this, I surprisingly get perfect sound and the program detects connected
speakers. As soon as I close the program, I once again have absolutely no
sound. There is also a calibration test that was provided with my sound
card, but that one in fact does not detect any connected speakers, nor does
any sound come out when I do the sound checks. Thusly, the only time I ever
hear sound from the speakers is when I run the Asus calibration test.
Strange.. I'm not sure if it has something to do with me having to fiddle
around with the Windows drivers or anything. If you're wondering, all sound
devices are showing "enabled and running". If anyone can shed some light on
my problem I'd be more than gracious.
