Missing Sound Recorder

I have a Dell Dimensions 8100 running Windows XP home.
My daughter has a program on her called sound recorder
which is part of windows. I went to my control panel,
clicked add/remove and then clicked on add/remove Windows
components. Under accessories and utilities there is no
multimedia file, which is where I have been told I would
find the program. When I click start and go to my program
list, under entertainment only Real Player and Windows
Media player are listed. I wish to make a wav. file. I do
have a microphone, sound card and speakers. Please advise
how I can install the program Sound Recorder. Thanks,
Diane

You will find Sound Recorder here: Start button|All
Programs|Accessories|Entertainment. Sound Recorder is limited to making
60-second recordings only. To record for longer durations, you might try
the freeware CDex: http://www.cdex.n3.net/ CDex is primarily useful for
ripping audio CDs to your hard drive but will also record from microphone
input.

Hope that helps,
Ian.

Ian,
My problem is when I go to Start button|All
Programs|Accessories|Entertainment, there is no Sound
Recorder listed only Real Player and Windows Media Player.
It isn't on my computer. Diane

If it's not there, go to Add/Remove Windows Components. I wouldn't bother and
use CDex instead. http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
