Hi All,

My notebook Compaq Presario 700 with XP Pro did not want to boot on one fine
day so I opt to re-install XP Pro with repair option. After repair it runs
but I lost the ACPI control for my notebook. My computer is not Standard PC
and Processors leaf is missing from Device list. My notebook is using AMD
Duron 950 processor.

In Control Panel Power Options, there is no battery folder too. Any advice
on how to solve this issue? Now I cannot use the On/Off button to shutdown
my notebook. Manually I need to click Start button and shutdown but the
message 'Safe to shutdown' will be displayed.

You probably need to install some programs that came with the laptop when
you bought it. In the worst case they were only installed and no installers
are supplied on a cd-rom. However, there might be a cd-rom with it or
searching the homepage of the manufacturer might help.
