Most of this is motherboard related. And motherboards use different
chipsets, video chips, CPUs, etc. So Microsoft has no business telling
you about such things. PCI Bus for example is part of the input/output
chipset. Intel uses two, called Northbridge and Southbridge. PCI is
connected to the Northbridge one. Keyboard and mouse is connected to the
Southbridge one.

All of this stuff doesn't matter to most people. Only high level techs,
programmers, and engineers needs to know this stuff. Your average
computer user does not need to know. Much like you don't need to know
the individual parts of refrigerator either to use one.

So what I am saying is if you have to ask, you have to learn all of the
internal parts of a given motherboard. And if you knew this, you
wouldn't be asking about them anyway. See what I mean?

By the way, Google will tell you about any questions you have about the
above items if you are interested.

Try this:
Go to http://wikipedia.org/, and choose your language.
Save this to your favorites list.
On the left of the main page for your language, type in something of
interest, like pci. If that expression has been used a lot, a dropdown box
may open with some popular additional characters or words. For now, just do
the pci search.
Now you will see that PCI may refer to six things. If you scroll down, you
will see that there a lots of ways PCI might be used in a business sense,
but people have only posted on Wiki one way in a computer sense. Click the
PCI Local Bus link under Computing.
You should see a picture of three PCI sockets on a motherboard. After
reading or even skimming the text, you should realize that this is computer
hardware.
In general, it is the computer hardware manufacturer's responsibility to
create drivers so that his hardware appears to the operating system as some
standard kind of device. The motherboard manufacturer determines how the
various chips are laid out on the motherboard. It is a complex problem
because there are so many things to be connected to the computer processor.
Motherboards typically are made with multiple layers, so that more than one
one 'connection' can pass the same point on the motherboard without
touching. The layout is also influenced by the location that the
motherboard will be used, such as laptop, desktop, minidesktop.
Microsoft has no need to care how or why a manufacturer lays out the
components on a motherboard or how the drivers are written. If you want to
know how these things are laid out on a particular motherboard, then you
might find that information on the motherboard manufacturer's web site.

I don't see any info about PCI Bridge on Wiki. I think that is because this
term applies to some particular PCI bus chip manufacturer. I rather doubt
that they all have the word bridge in the name of their chip.

In any case, microsoft.public.windowsxp.general is not the place to be
searching for this general hardware specific information.

Try using Wiki for each of the items you mention; you should find good info
for many of them.
