Missing Operation System

After installing the boot disks, I loaded the XP Home
Edition CD into the CD-Rom Drive and the disk was not
recognized. How can I ensure that this disk can be read?
And will install XP as my operating system.

Note: this is a completely new system that had no previous
OS on it.

Stan,

Set the BIOS to recognize the CD drive first. If you are not sure how to do
it, either read the manual or return to the vendor and have them install the
OS.
