missing index

A friend of mine has just bought a new computer,with
Win.XP Home,his index in Help and Support was alright in
the begining,however it has gone missing,when he
clicks 'index' now it comes up blank.We have put the XP
disk in and run a repair,but it is still the same,no
index,can anyone help here, Thanks Joe
