disable Indexing Service = apply attributes very long time

A

Anne Onime

I took the hard drive from a PC whose motherboard died,
and put it in another PC to extract some files. In Windows
Explorer, I right clicked properties, and unchecked the

[] Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searcing

then it seemed to apply ttributes to all files on this
partition, which took about 42 million years.
it is 160 GB disk NTFS with XP Home OEM installed.
What is going on?
I never saw this behaviour when I turned off Indexing...

Did you turn OFF the indexing service in Services.msc ?
