missing icons in start menu

My laptop has missed the shutdown button and the execute icon in the start
menu and the system don't allow me to shutdown de equipment... the only
temporal solution that I'm using rigth now is to close the session and in the
screen when the session starts is where I find the shutdown button.

Somebody know hao to recover those icons?

You can try this:
Download Windows XP Security Console:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htm
In the Start Menu and Taskbar section if the box is checked where it says
'Remove Start Menu Shutdown' uncheck this box, and if it's not checked then
check the box, click Apply, then uncheck the box, click Apply again.
After this reboot your computer and see if it's back.
