I just upgraded from XP home to XP professional. Now one
of my hard drives is missing. How do I get XP pro to
recognise the missing drive.

I've got three physical hard drives on my system. XP Home
recognised them, XP Pro does not.

I've run through control panel and tried the
troubleshooting wizard to no effect.

Thanks.

What does disk management say about the condition of the drive?

What does device manager show for the drives? Just reinstall the drive, by
removing it from device manager and reboot.

Disk Management does not list the drive at all.

It does list my C: drive as drive 0 and my E: drive as
drive 1 but not the D: drive.

Device Manager does not list the missing drive, therefore
I cannot delete it and re-boot.

Disk Management does not list the missing drive.

Drive letter assignments show no conflicts.

In going from XP home to XP pro the drive has simply
disappeared from the system.

Help me restore it to my op system.

If its just a data drive, I would physically remove the drive from the
computer and boot up with out it. Then shut down and put it back in, boot up
and see of windows sees it.

It is just a data drive.

I've diconneted it's cable from the computer which
effectively "removes" it. Booted without the connection ,
re installed the cable on my "missing" drive and re booted
again. WinXP still does not see the drive.

Is your win xp drive formatted as ntfs or fat32? What's the data drive
formatted as?
