Missing folder and mail after profile corruptioin

J

Outlook 2002, Office XP on XP.
As the title states I lost access to folders and mail after repairing a
corrupt profile. I was getting the old process error related to corrupt
profiles.
I renamed the old profile created a new one just like the old one and then
Outlook 2002 started correctly except no folders or mail from the original
profile.
I have run all kinds of apps trying to recover the info in the Outlook.pst
but no go.
The recover/repair software see nothing wrong with the pst and only recovers
mail from the "Sent" folder. The file is over 200MB in size so there is
something there.
Anybody have any experience like this?

Thanks!

So how EXACTLY are you trying to "recover" the pst file? Usually all you do
is in Outlook to File-Open Outlook Data File. A corrupted Mail profile does
not usually corrupt the associated pst file...

I understand that a corrupt profile does not usually corrupt the pst file.
I'm not trying to recover the pst itself. I have that. Im trying to get
access to all the folders, mail and contacts I had in this pst.
The pst file checks out fine using pstscan.exe and i have tried some 3rd
party mail recover apps and they do get some mail back out but not all and no
folder structure.
So let me back up a bit:

1) I tried to start Outlook. Received "Process will not start" error. I've
seen it once before so I created a new profile.

2) Tried to start Outlook again this time it did start but the only mail
there was in the sent folder. All other mail and the sub folders in Inbox
were gone but the pst is the same size it was before (200+ MB).

3) Ran scanpst to check the the pst. Passed with no errors.

4) Recreated the profile again no change.

5) Tried 3rd party email recovery apps. I got back some email from Inbox but
not all and no sub folders.

So although it looks like all the original data is still there due to the
pst file size I can not see folders or contacts that I used to be able to see.

Thanks for the help!
Peter
