Is it possible to recover a "deleted" profile?

Grindy

Hi,
I'm using Outlook 2007 on an XP machine. My Outlook "Connector" was not
working properly and after reading a lot of threads regarding my particular
problem, I created a new Profile which fixed the problem with the Outlook
"Connector".

Like an idiot, I then deleted the old Profile since my email worked fine
now. I forgot that I had a LOT of Calendar and Task entries in the old
Profile.

Is there any way to recover that old Profile?

Thanks for any suggestions

If the deletion was recent, system restore may bring it back, but you may
not need it. If the contents you are missing are in a pst, you just need to
open the pst in your new profile. Go to File, Data File Management and
click Add - it should open in the default location for pst files, and your
missing data should be in one of the pst files.

Diane,
The pst file is not in the Outlook folder. I assume it was deleted when I
deleted the profile that used it. I was hoping that Outlook had a hidden
"backup" file somewhere.

The pst file is not in the Outlook folder.

Then it's in another folder. Enable viewing hidden files and folders and
search for it.

Invalid assumption. Deleting a mail profile doesn't touch any of the data
files.

When you say "profile", do you mean mail profile or Windows user profile.
Deleting the latter would, indeed, delete the PST.

Just see that system restore could work for you. or you can use scanpst.exe tool, hope it recovers the deleted profil.
but if not you may consider Kernel for outlook recovery software.. it will do the job..

Diane or Brian:

When a Profile is deleted ( by using the Mail option in the Control Panel ),
does Outlook actually "delete" that Profile or just remove any pointers to
it? Since a Profile could include more than one pst file, what exactly
happens when you tell Outlook to "remove" or a Profile?

Thanks for your suggestion, tech nova... However, as you can see from my
original post, I'm looking for Calendar and Task events, not Emails.

The mail profile is a structure in the registry. When you delete the mail
profile using Control Panel's Mail applet, only the registry hive gets
removed. The files on disk that the mail profile referenced so that Outlook
could find them will still exist on the disk. Deleting the mail profile won't
affect the Outlook data files.
