New user profile

Help please!!!!
First I exported Calendar, Tasks, Notes och Contacts to pst files (cause I
needed to transfer them to another PC).
But when doing so a duplicate Personal Folder was created (WHY????) so
somehow the wxport action corrupted my user profile casue then I could not
close or delete the duplicate Personal Folder.... so after having read on
here I realised aha - new user profile.... did that and all went well... Only
- the next day I once again exported Calendar, Tasks, Notes and Contacts to
pst files and once again a duplicate Personal Folder that couldn't close...
Thinking I know what to do I followed all the instructions and created yet
again a new user profile.... and said that Outlook should always open that
new user profile - BUT when opening outlook it doesn't open the new user
profile but a new and empty Personal Folders... and when I add the old (only)
outlook.pst suddenly my old user profile appears... so back at square on... I
tried at least 5 times but Outlook does not open my new user profile, and yet
in the Mail applet - there it is.... Please does anyone know
1) why do I get a duplicate personal folder everytime I export from one of
the outlook folders?
2) how do I get rid of this duplicate personal folder hwn apparently I
cannot get a new user profile going?

As posted daily Export/Import is not the way to deal with native OL data
files.
With OL closed copy the data files to media
