using existing PST in a new Outlook 2003 profile

this may be a duplicate - the screen just flashed and erased a message.

I create a new profile, input the e-mail data and when I start Outlook 2003
the messages I left on the ISPs server for 10 days start to download. These
will be duplicates but it's not a big issue. My old tried and true PST was
named Outlook1, for some reason. I now have a new PST named Outlook.there are
two files in the application folder that share the name Outlook but one has a
suffix of the 1.

I want either the Outlook1 PST to be the only one in the new profile or the
data from Outlook1 moved in to the new file named Outlook.how do I accomplish
this?

I'm sure my ignorance shows through but I will retain your information for
the future so I don't have to ask again.

Thank you

close outlook. go to the control panel, mail applet and edit the profile -
choose the option to edit accounts and add the old pst to the profile, set
it as default and delete the new one.
