recreating corrupt profile - where are contacts?

I've managed to create a new profile to replace a my for my client's
corrupted one. I've replaced the default Outlook1.pst with the old Oulook.pst
and all email and calendar entries appear to be ok. However there are no
contacts. Where are the contacts stored and how do I get them to reappear in
Outlook?

The edition has business contacts manager but I didn't recreate an entry to
that database as she indicates she doesn't use BCM. And I'm not sure how to
add that in data files panel.

Thanks for any help with this.

Define this term: "I've replaced the default Outlook1.pst with the old
Oulook.pst"
Had you done so correctly, the Contacts would be there so we need to know
what you did instead.
Consult the many posts here that tell you how to transfer data correctly.

How did you replace the new pst with the old? That can break the profile.

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.

If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to
a bug.

You need to link the pst to the profile in control panel, before outlook is
opened.

When I created the new profile Outlook created a new PST file called
Outlook1.pst. I simply added the original Outlook.pst from the old profile to
the Data Files list and set it to be the default inbox. Then I removed
Outlook1 from the Data Files list.

The address book tab in Data Files says its using Outlook Address Book MAPI

Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "added to the Data Files" list.
You add a data file to a profile by opening it in the profile. Then you can
set it as the default, restart Outlook, then close the original data file
from the profile.
If the file you added to the profile has no Contacts, then you transferred
the wrong file.
