when i booted my computer a message came up saying missing
or corrupt file \windows\system32\config\system
it says to run repair from the startup disk -- the only
help i could get in the knowledge base was to copy and
delete files then repair them\\\that did not work beacause
it still could not find config\system \\any suggestions???

Check for hijackware:

Dealing with Hijackware

I highly recommend using HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) to identify and
assist in the removal of these bad guys. **Post your files to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Might try running System File Check if you have xp cd go
Start/run type cmd click ok at command prompt window
type sfc/ scannow (one space after/) You will
then be prompted to insert xp cd this will automatically
check system files and correct problems. Hope this helps.
