Missing favorites

I have no idea why all of my favorites are gone. I
haven't upgraded or done any major maintenance on my
computer, so I can't understand what would have happened
to my favorites folder. Any suggestions? I would hate
to lose all of my bookmarks!

possibly a stupid suggestion here:
try using regular windows search for "favorites"

??
