Missing config file

M

Mark F.

Hello,

I have a PC running WinXP Pro and I need to restart it and run an application
(from RunOnce reg key) in safe mode. When the application is finished it
restarts the machine. The restart then would in normal mode.

I was told that this could be done using the Boot.ini file, but it appears to be
missing on the PC I am working with. A search of the enire drive returned nothing.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Next time in WinExplorer select Tools>Folder Options>View>Click on Show
hidden files and folders and uncheck
Hide protected operating system files. You should be then able to see it
in C:\

Mark, forgot to mention that you should also go to Start>Run type:
msconfig click Ok and select Boot.ini

I found out that if you prefix the registry "key name" with an asterisk (*)
Windows will launch it as in normal mode.

Found it. I didn't have all the hidden/system files turned on.
