Have you installed the latest XP compliant drivers for your graphics card?
Do you get the problem in Safe Mode?

I DO STILL GET THE PROBLEM IN SAFE MODE I HAVE EVEN TRIED TO DO A SYSTEM
RESTORE BUT IT KEEPS COMING BACK AS INCOMPLETE

Hi

Try downloading/installing the drivers from the graphics card manufacturer's
web site - not through Windows Update. The same advice goes for any
hardware drivers.

double check that monitor cable is firmly attached. Try wiggling it, see if
the color comes back sometimes.

Test another monitor on the PC, and/or the monitor on a different PC.

You might have a bad cable, or the monitor might be malfunctioning.

Hardware fault. Either:

Broken monitor cable.
Defective monitor.
Defective GRaphics card.

If Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened
rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic
music.

Check the pins on the monitor plug, make sure none are bend out of place. If
they are bent them back and recheck. Common fault when in a hurry plugging
in the monitor cable.

hope it helps.
