Missing CDROM and Burner

Hi T.C.----I went to website and downloaded and installed
XP_CD-DVD-Fix.exe---I rebooted as instructed---but I
still do not have my CD Rom and Burner. What am I not
doing, or what more should I do?? I don't know if I've
lost files or not. I can't run the sfc/scannow from XP
CD as I can't access my CD ROM. I'm in big trouble.
