Missing bottom to my browser

When i open the browser there is the grey area at the
bottom with the world and "internet" word in the corner.
When i open a second window that grey area is
disappeared. I have scanned for virius and found nothing.
I would like the gray area back. please help.

Patton,

Open Windows Explorer, View > enable Status bar
Tools > Folder Options > View > Apply to all folders. This applies to Internet Explorer as well.
