Mismatched XP/ROuter WEP key length

I am unable to use WEP encryption for my XP Professional laptop because of a
mismatch in key length between XP and my router (Linksys WRT54G). This is
crazy.....but here is the info:

Router WEP key lengths: 64 bits or 128 bits

XP WEP Key lengths: 40 bits or 104 bits

The only way I can get my laptop to talk is to disable security. This is
not cool

My XP is Pro 2002 wih SP1.

Is there a way to get this machine to talk to my router with security
enabled?

The infuriating thing is this problem did not exist with XP Home -- the same
PC talked to the router fine with Home; it stopped after I upgraded to Pro

Never mind.....I got it to work by entering the hex digits generated by the
router.

Configuration issue - I'll bet 10000% since it worked under XP home. XP
home is a stripped version of Pro.
