When I send out a word doc it shows the following
Mirosoft Office Word Document(.docx) and they can not open. It is not
recongized by web sites requiring MS Word formatting. I think is the x at
the of doc?

..docx indicates Word 2007 files. .doc indicates Word 2003 or earlier
files. You probably need to "save as" a Word 97-2003 file if the
website you're uploading to doesn't recognize the .docx format.

The .docx extension is used for the new file format in Word 2007. If you
need the older .doc format, you can either:

- open the Save As dialog, pull down the Save As Type dropdown at the
bottom, and choose "Word 97-2003 (*.doc)"

OR

- click the Office button, hover over the Save As item until the menu opens,
and choose the "Word 97-2003" item.

Users of versions before Word 2007 can get the Compatibility Pack at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en
to let them open the Word 2007 format, but many people won't want to do this
(it's a large download). Also, many web sites have not yet added the .docx
format to their list of MIME types, so they won't recognize it.
