Minimized program icons not on taskbar

Windows XP: Running and minimized program icons are not
being displayed on the taskbar, but used to be displayed
on the taskbar. Have changed taskbar settings and/or
changed taskbar properties, still not working. "Windows
key + D" works with no errors, icons not on taskbar. Its a
bit frustrating......have 10lb. sledgehammer available to
fine tune C drive.....just kidding......!!
