Minimize/Maximize Windows

Hello, I've been able to minimize the windows to the approximate size of
1/2 of the desktop screen until 3 days ago. Now when I click on the minimize
button it just changes in that spot but the window remains maximized. I
don't know if I accidently hit a key or what and don't know how to rectify
it. Can anyone help me?

Look at the upper-right hand corner of the Window. If the
three buttons contain an underscore, a single square and
an X mark (left-to-right) that means the screen is NOT at
maximum size. If the center button contains two squares -
one on top of the other - click on it and it will become a
single square. Now drag the corner or the sides to any
size that you want.

Perfect! Isn't it funny how something so simple can buffalo one? I knew it
was some simple thing but I couldn't think of it! Thanks a lot!
