Milo: How can I put capitals in my email address?

M

Milo in San Diego

I know that caps don't matter technically in email addresses so, to the
internet, (e-mail address removed) is the same as (e-mail address removed).
But I do want people to see the first version with the caps because it helps
them get that I do improv. My logo also looks like IMPROVenturing

My emails go out with my name showing like `Milo at IMPROVenturing` but then
next to it, one sees in brackets <[email protected]>.

Is there anything I can change in Outlook such that I can tell it that I'd
like those six letters to be in caps in what people see as my email?

If I go to Tools, EmailAccounts, View, Change, I see where I've set up my
name and the email address and the caps are there as I'd like them, so that
's not it.

Thanks!

Change it in your account settings.

I tried to be detailed about how I looked for it in EmailAccounts. If you
mean someplace else, please be more specific about what to click on to get to
what you refer to just as "account settings". Thanks!

I just clicked Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next, selected one of my accounts,
clicked Change, modified the domain of my address to add caps top a portion
of it, clicked Next, then Finish. I then sent a message through that
account. Both my Sent Items and the receiving mail client showed the caps
that I added. The From field showed

Brian Tillman <[email protected]>

Brian (et al), I can see that it does work for you -- not debating that! :)
But since a picture is worth a thousand words, I've pasted my settings
and a test note that I sent myself to show that it's still not working.

The three screen prints are at http://www.IMPROVentures.com/temp/temp2.htm

Can you see anything else I could be missing?

Is your name/email address in your address book?

Hmm! Well, I checked and indeed it was there and spelled the old way. So I
briefly thought "Hooray!" as I corrected it, saved it, and even exited
Outlook and came back in.

The news is mixed. I tested it and immediately came up with the same
results. But then, on a lark, I tried sending a note to a gmail account and
that one worked right! So I don't know what to make of this now.

I also tried sending a note to myself and quickly closing Outlook, then
going over to the remote access system my webhost offers to see what it looks
like there. All lower case still. I've added a screen print of this to the
webpage previously mentioned so you can see it.

Gosh, frustrating...

(Shoot. When I tried to reply, Firefox balked and I don't know if it went
through. Trying again; sorry if you see this twice)

I did find lowercase in my Outlook and corrected it. Saved it, exited
Outlook, came back in and the problem is still there. Even if I leave
Outlook and check my email remotely on my host company, the error is there
(see additional screen print on that same webpage).

BUT, I also tested it to a gmail account and it's right there! So that
muddies the water further.

How about the autocompletion cache? Did you remove the address from there
as well, if it's there?

You just exceeded my techie level.
I'm vaguely familiar with the idea of cache, but have never heard of
autocompletion cache -- let alone knowing where to find it or what to do with
it. :)

Can you walk me through it a bit?

In Outlook help, look for autocomplete...

I was aware that it fills in names as I type them. I just didn't know that
was called autocomplete cache.

I have just deleted one that was in all lower case and sent myself a new
note with the capital letters in it so now THAT'S what's in cache.

But what comes to me still has the small letters. I'd repost a picture, but
it doesn't look any different.

Well, I for one am stumped. Sorry.

Thanks for trying, Brian, and you may indeed have solved part of the problem.
I clicked "No" for your having helped just in hopes that that means it
won't be listed as resolved, but I sure do appreciate your time.
