migration to Virtual Machines

Hello

We are interested in moving our current domain controllers to virtual
machines.
The physical machines will be retired once the project has been completed.
We have two domain controllers at our home office and one at our other site.
The single DC at our other site will not be moved to a virtual machine.

I am wondering what the best strategy might be for migrating these two DC's.
Any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, this is very helpful.

My thoughts were to build additional virtual server DC's then simply change
the roles of the physical machines once the VM's are in production. Thus
promoting/reassigning server roles. Same to be said for DNS as we are AD
integrated.
