Migration Problems with Office 2003 to Vista

I recently tried to migrate my Office 2003 program from my WXP computer to my
new Vista computer. I first used Windows Easy Transfer to transfer files
and then used the Windows Easy File Transfer companion to transfer programs,
including Office 2003. It didn't work. I reversed the program transfers.

I then tried reinstalling Office 2003 and each time I get as far as the
start of the install, but then get an "insufficient disk space" message with
the G: drive highlighted. (The G: drive is not a hard drive but a SD card
slot.) Although my C: drive is shown with more than adequate disk space, it
cannot be selected and I have to end the installation at this point.

Any thoughts?

Remove the SD card? Until you can resolve the problem and get office 2003
working, you might consider installing OpenOffice.org for free - at least
you would be able to work in the meantime.

I personally would just format that hard disk, reinstall Vista on a clean
install and reinstall Office 2003 and apply the latest patches and Service
Pack for the suite.

You cannot do that. You need to install Office 2003 from your install media on the new machine. The easy transfer will not do since all the reg settings as an example will not go over

The OP said he also used Windows Easy Transfer Companion,
which is supposed to *fully* transfer a program.

Office 2003 is one of the programs listed as transferable.

I've never used it.. wouldn't trust it to work properly.
Especially, since it is still classified as beta.

Peter,

The Windows Easy Transfer Companion is supposed to transfer Office 2003
according to the MS description. However, that is not the current problem.

My problem now is that when I try to install Office 2003 from the
installation disk, the install defaults to my G: drive which is an empty SD
card slot. I cannot select my C: drive which has more than adequate space.
I am not sure, but it may be that the Windows File Transfer followed by the
Companion transfer may have set up something in my Registry and I don't know
how to undo it.

Since I do technical writing, not being able to access Office 2003 is a
major handicap for me, not to mention that Vista will not operate with my
Panasonic KX-P7100 Laser printer.
