Hello,

is there a way or utility to assign the middle wheel/button to function as a
left button single-click, since the left button has sadly passed away?....

Thank you

Consider investing a few dollars in a new mouse.

Example: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=004

I'd vote for replacing the mouse, but you could also turn on Mousekeys
and use the numeric keyboard instead of the mouse. You could also switch
to a left-handed mouse so that the right mouse button represents a
click. That sort of begs the question, though, as to whether you want to
lose the right-click capability of the mouse.

Thanks for the replies,

I'll probably buy a new mouse, but it's really surprising that the mouse
buttons cannot be freely assigned without
restrictions. (double-click only etc.)

I wish that the scroll wheel could be set to rotate the tires on my Jeep
every 6 months because I never use it to scroll.. c'est la guerre.. :)

Depending on the mouse software you have, you could be able to go into
Control Panel and configure each button to do various things - possibly
change the middle button to be a left click.

Not possible, just "switch primary and secondary buttons" and "assign
button/wheel as double-click".

Depends on what sort of mouse and drivers. Look in Control Panel -
Mouse and if there is a Setup button see what it has to offer. Logitech
drivers certainly support using the wheel for just about anything (inc
'Click/Select', the usual left button function)
