Microsoft XP recognising Sony DV camera as "1394 Net Adapter"

Hi there.

I am using a firewire card, which XP recognises as a "NEC OHCI
Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller" and there seems to be no problems
with the card.

But when I plug my camera into the card and turn it on, XP recognised
the camera as a "1394 Net Adapter" and didn't recognise it as a "Sony
DV Camera"

Now I have no idea why XP is doing this. I installed Service Pack 1
and 2, and every single update and that didn't solve it. I tried
formatting and starting XP from scratch, but that didn't make one bit
of difference.

Is it some drivers that are missing, or is it simply my camera?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I have a project to do,
and this is very inconveniently wasting time.

Thanks

Try going to network connections and disabling the 1394 network one. If this
doesn't help. Remove all drivers etc, remove the pci card. Reboot. Turn off.
Refit card, try another pci slot and connect cam and turn it onreboot, let
drivers reinstall, see if it works.

Thanks for the reply, but it didn't work.

I followed every instruction that you said, and when the drivers
installed it said, "New Network Device Installed" in the bubble in the
right hand corner.

Some drivers must be missing, becuase this has never happened before.
Could somebody please tell me what drivers I need, or if I already
have them, tell me where they should be on the computer.

Thanks

I'll try looking in to this more for you, but the drivers used are the
generic windows ones for the ieee1394 port and are the same whether it is
used as a network port or cam connection.
