1394 dv camera

I have a sony PCG-NVR23 laptop w/ win xp&1394 I have a
sony DCR-TRV310 DV camcorder. When I plug the video camera
into the system the software does not see a camera. This
is with all packages ulead dvstudio and windows media. The
camera is not in the device manager attached to the 1394.
This camera worked w/1394 and w98se and a 1394 card.
Please help.

Open device manager and choose view -> show hidden devices.
Do you see a 61883 or avc device node?
