Video cam capture problem

Just bought a combined USB and firewire 1394 card to plug in my JVC DV
minicam.
Video Cam is not recognised (or acknowledged - zilch)
The USB ports work fine
The VIA OHCI IEE 1394 host controller driver is loaded in Device manager
have tried 2 cables.

Can anyone help?

Steve, I am having the same problem with a new JVC GR350U mini camcorder. My
1394 ports are working and the camera is not recognized by Movie Maker. I
don't know what else to do. JVC says it is not their problem.

Hi,
Did you ever sort this out? I'm having the same problem with my Panasonic
DV camcorder. Camcorder and firewire cable have tested OK
